This product is a flavonoid component extracted from Erigeron breviscapus.

The solution under the [Content Determination] item, measured by spectrophotometry (Appendix VA), shows maximum absorption at wavelengths of 248 ± 1 nm and 335 ± 1 nm.

[Inspection] Loss on Drying Take about 0.5g of this product, dry at 105°C to constant weight; the loss in weight must not exceed 8.0%.

Sterility Take 100mg of this product, dissolve in 1.4ml of a sterile aqueous solution of 1% sodium carbonate, then add water for injection to prepare 20ml of a solution containing 5mg per 1ml. Inspect according to the method (Appendix XIIIB); it should comply with the requirements.

[Content Determination] Precisely weigh 10mg of this product, place in a 50ml volumetric flask, add an appropriate amount of methanol, shake to dissolve in a water bath at about 50°C, allow to cool, dilute to volume with methanol, and mix well. Precisely measure 1ml, place in a 25ml volumetric flask, dilute to volume with methanol, and mix well. Place in a 1cm absorption cell, use methanol as a blank, and measure the absorbance at a wavelength of 335 ± 1 nm by spectrophotometry (Appendix VA). Calculate based on the absorption coefficient (E^1%_1cm) of scutellarin (C₂₁H₁₈O₁₂) being 570. Thus obtained.

Calculated on the dried basis, this product contains scutellarin (C₂₁H₁₈O₁₂) at 95.0–105.0%.
